The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures a free appropriate public education (FAPE)
to children with disabilities and defines most of a child’s rights to special education. Kansas has some state-imposed rules, regulations, and policies that apply only in Kansas and are not required by IDEA.
The primary goal of the Special Education Services team is to provide leadership and support for exceptional learners receiving special education services throughout Kansas schools and communities. Our web pages are designed to provide access to available documents, resources and guidelines.
